Descripción:
In Europe thousands of children are born every year with deafness disability in rural populations with no possibility of learning, development and integration. Families are embedded in a painful situation, because they cannot communicate properly with their children, or know how to teach sign language. BABELHANDS, was born to orient parents from the outset, to be able to assimilate and cope with their new family situation, teach them how to communicate with their children since the first months of life, likewise they have to learn sign language and know how to teach their children. Communication is essential in their development. This guidance and family education is an objective of the project. But these needs are also at the beginning of schooling child. Nurseries are the first contact children have with the outside world, which is why teachers must be well prepared to help those children to integrate in a sustainable way throughout society. For teachers and educators have the knowledge to know how to teach children from the ages of one to three, their first words in sign language and to integrate with their schoolmates, is another objective of the project. BABELHANDS combines in a single project two areas which are clearly connected and constitutes a starting point for thousands of citizens. Its enforcement is possible thanks to the fact that training organizations, European associations of disabled persons and public bodies have come together and has a current technological development. Its free distribution is done through the Internet via an IPTV channel. The current development of technologies allows us to deliver quality contents, which can reach to the smallest rural population, with only a 1 Mb ADSL connection. Several documentaries about family relationships between parents and their disabled children and the relationship between teachers and these children will be displayed in an easy way and will teach how they should communicate. These documentaries are filmed with special educators and will include disabled children and their families, showing in a real way, all examples of relation and teaching. Through a series of visual lessons, shot with educators and children, we will teach sign language and the method of teaching the child. The purpose of the project, as part of the Leonardo Da Vinci programme and cross, is to provide families and teachers of kindergartens and preschool education with a specific training model for professional and personal training.
